Chat Panel
Converse with the AI writer to shape your content.
Chat Panel
The chat panel is the left side of the workspace. It’s a conversational interface where you collaborate with the AI writer to shape your blog post. Instead of filling out forms or editing a blank document, you simply describe what you want in plain language and the AI does the heavy lifting.
How the chat works
The chat works like a messaging conversation. You type a message, the AI responds, and the back-and-forth continues until your draft is where you want it. The AI isn’t just generating text in the chat — it’s actively reading and updating your draft behind the scenes using tools like save_draft and get_current_draft.
When you open a brand-new session, the chat starts with a prompt: “Describe your blog post idea, and the AI writer will help you draft it.” From there, you lead the direction.
What you can ask
You can steer the AI in many ways throughout the conversation. Here are some examples:
- Start from scratch — “Write an intro about the future of remote work.”
- Adjust tone — “Make the opening paragraph more casual and conversational.”
- Add content — “Add a section about the security implications.”
- Edit existing content — “Shorten the conclusion to two sentences.”
- Ask questions — “What angle do you think would work best for a developer audience?”
- Request structure changes — “Break the third section into bullet points instead of paragraphs.”
There’s no rigid format — just write naturally and the AI will follow your lead.
Writing phases
A typical session flows through a few natural phases:
- Interviewing — The AI may ask you clarifying questions about your topic, audience, and goals before it starts writing. This helps it produce a more targeted first draft.
- Drafting — Once it has enough context, the AI writes a full draft and saves it to the draft panel. You’ll see the draft appear (or update) on the right side of the workspace.
- Revising — After the first draft, you can go back and forth with the AI to refine, expand, restructure, or polish the content. Each major revision creates a new draft version.
Stop button
While the AI is generating a response, a stop button appears in the input area. Click it to cancel the current generation if you want to change direction or if the AI is going off track. The conversation preserves everything up to the point you stopped.
Thinking indicator
When the AI is processing your message but hasn’t started responding yet, you’ll see a “Thinking…” indicator at the bottom of the chat. This lets you know it’s working on your request.
Auto-send for promoted ideas
If you created this session by promoting an idea from the Content Scout, the chat automatically sends an opening message on your behalf. This message tells the AI about the promoted idea and asks it to review the research context and begin outlining key points. You don’t need to type anything — the conversation kicks off immediately.
